Brutal VR Rhythm Game Against launches in December

We finally have a release date for the early access version of the brutal paced VR game, Against, and it’s not far off.

The Neo-Noir Slasher, which looks like a bloody version of Beat Saber and Pistol Whip, launches on SteamVR on December 16. Developer Joy Way confirmed this during the Upload VR Showcase today with a new trailer, which you can see below.

Against release date revealed

The trailer introduces us to the narrative element of the game, in which a detective confronts a city overrun by evil. We then take another look at the rhythmic action gameplay, where players beat and slice enemies to the beat in a themed level with a boss fight that will likely seem a bit familiar to all Marvel fans. The levels consist of stationary sections interspersed with moments on rails in which you can also run over walls and dodge obstacles.

As we reported earlier, Against will launch with seven levels, each with three difficulty settings. They will also feature all of their own boss fights and other story-based elements. Expect gameplay adjustments and new levels and modes to be added during Early Access, and we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for the Quest and PSVR versions as well. We got familiar with the game earlier in the year and really enjoyed its vicious take on one of VR gaming’s most popular genres.

Against isn’t the only Joy Way game we’re featuring at Upload VR Showcase today – stay tuned for more updates!
