I am truly proud of the outcome of these new works and look forward to sharing them at upcoming shows at the Wentworth Gallery in Florida.-Rick Allen
Speaking of his favorite track, “Saint Charlie”, Allen remarked, “Losing Charlie is the end of an era…if it wasn’t for Charlie, I wouldn’t be a drummer…a very gentleman whom I had the honor of meeting.”
“I am honored to welcome Rick and his art to my galleries. His work continues to evolve and not only represents his own story of perseverance, resilience and human spirit, but is also a beacon of hope for others. – Christian O’Mahony, director of Wentworth Gallery
“Music, art and photography have been my passions since childhood. My life has been a journey of transformation and my art reflects the many facets of dreams and perceptions that have shaped me. Each piece has a story and connection to my life from my roots in England, my life-changing car accident, my trip to America, my travels around the world, and my deep connection with wounded warriors and their struggle to heal. Rick Allen became the drummer for Def Leppard at the age of 15. As one of the world’s best-selling musical artists, Def Leppard has sold over 100 million records worldwide, two albums with RIAA Diamond certification (10 million albums sold) and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2019.
At the height of his world fame in 1984, he had a life-changing car accident. Rick lost an arm, but turned personal tragedy into spiritual transformation and continued his music career. Already a hero to millions of young people, he quickly added millions of new admirers. Since then, Rick has reached out and supported others all over the world by sharing his personal experiences and love of drumming. Over the past 13 years, Rick has reached out to teens with cancer, children with special needs, at-risk youth in crisis, families experiencing domestic violence, and veterans who have served in Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq and Afghanistan. He received Maria Shriver’s Best Buddies of CA Humanitarian Award in 2002 and in 2012 he also received the prestigious Carry It Forward Award from the Wounded Warrior Project. Rick continues his work helping injured warriors through Project Resiliency’s warrior resilience program, sponsored by his charitable foundation, the Raven Drum Foundation.
An integral part of Rick’s creative life went public in 2012. After years of personal photographic work, Allen ventured into the world of fine art with a first successful collection of abstract artworks constructed from the rhythm. Allen became a pioneer of the new medium, using drumsticks and rhythm to dictate abstract visuals on canvas.
This first collection, in 2012, featured 300 pieces, quickly sold out in its initial offering to the public and boasted a sold-out exhibition. A second collection, released in 2013, titled “Rock-On-Canvas” met with similar outstanding reception and helped forge a relationship with leading US fine art retailer Wentworth Galleries. The Artist is pleased to present this new Collection to you: “The Wings of Hope”.
