New York singer-songwriter Emily Gabriele, aka EG, unveils her new single, “Legs”, a track from her upcoming album, Omega Manwhich is scheduled for release on May 27.
Speaking of the song, EG shares, “’Legs’ is the fourth single from my upcoming album. On April 15, 2022, it will be available worldwide. I wrote this song contemplating the complexity of humans. Each individual is multiple. We have different versions of ourselves, some we choose to share with others and some we choose to hide. And then there are versions of ourselves that we are blind to, will we ever be fully aware of who we are?”
EG will release a single from the project every two weeks. “Freedom” dropped on March 18, “Legs” on 4/15, followed by “Haunted” on 4/29 and “Tobacco Leaves” on 5/13.
The album, which includes collaborative tracks with British producer Christopher Clarke, was mixed by Carl Bahner and mastered by Nicholas Di Lorenzo. The title of the album – Omega Man – refers to EG’s father, who his friends called “Omega Man” because he was a source of truth and ethics, and had the final say in any dispute. EG wrote the album in honor of his father, who passed away in 2019.
Intrinsically pop, EG’s sound blends elements from various genres into delicious sonic potions. She has performed at Pete’s Candy Store, Arlene’s Grocery, Rockwood Music Hall and Bowery Electric.
“Legs” opens with a cool drum beat, followed by the entry of EG’s evocative vocals, bright, tight guitar and a fat bass line. A screeching organ injects thick accents as the melody tiptoes over the dense rhythm.
In the chorus, the air takes on a smooth and viscous coloring, overflowing with coagulated grunts of guitars. EG’s voice, both nuanced and perfumed with mysterious tones, infuses the lyrics with residual flavors and seductive energy.
Emily Gabriele is on a roll! Straddling the border between pop and rock, “Legs” produces dark and captivating sonic layers, topped by the fragrant voice of EG.
