Trombone Champ: What to know about this silly rhythm game

Trombone Champ is a game that came out of nowhere to be a bestseller on Steam, and that’s not because you can live out the dream of playing trombone. Well, maybe that’s the case for some people, but most seem to enjoy some silly, quirky entertainment.

Developed by Holy Wow, Trombone Champ is a rhythm game in the vein of Guitar Hero, but instead of battling with the heaviest rock riffs, players can enjoy the sweet sounds of a trombone playing Take Me Out to the Ball Game, O Canada, and the Star Spangled Banner.

Due to its fun premise, gamers jumped on the game, making it No. 15 on Steam’s best-selling games list in its first week of release. It’s also one of the best streaming games on Twitch.

Where can I buy Trombone Champ?

Trombone Champ is currently only available on Steam and costs $15.

How it works?

Players can use a mouse or gamepad to move the cursor up and down on the screen corresponding to the notes of the over 20 available songs. The more precise and punctual the notes are with the music, the higher the score. Players will need to be aware of how many notes they are playing as they may be out of breath. And unlike other music games, Trombone Champ keeps playing music even if it’s not accurate. There are also 50 Tromboner cards to collect and a few other secrets in the game.
