Vicksburg native Tremayne Cole has landed a role in the upcoming film “The System” which will air in late October.

“I sent my portfolio to the casting director last year and when they called back, I first thought it was a joke,” Cole said.

Originally only supposed to star in a short scene as a bus prisoner, Cole ended up shooting many scenes alongside actors Tyrese and Terrence Howard. The film was shot inside the Rankin County Correctional Facility. The actors never came into contact with the inmates.

“It was cool to see how the movies are made and how the filming is going,” Cole said. “We worked very long hours and were on set for about 17 days, but I gained a lot of experience. Acting has always been a dream of mine and this movie was just the first step.

Cole was offered three more film roles but had to turn it down due to scheduling and vaccination status. While filming The System, Mississippi had at least four other movies shut down due to COVID-19 protocols, but this movie survived the pandemic.

The system is directed by Dallas West and will feature A-list actors like Tyrese, Terrance Howard, Jeremy Piven and rapper Lil Yachty.

The film will be released in theaters on October 28 and on digital platforms on November 4.
